“I think it is vital that people feel included, safe, listened to and heard, and taken seriously in the workplace - not only for their benefit but because it is important and the employer will benefit from it too by the work ethic and effort put in by their staff in reflection.”
Lauren Lake, a midwifery undergraduate
“Diversity is about the demographic of your workforce – the different types of people you employ, with different characteristics, including those protected by law but also much wider than that. Inclusion is about how people feel about working at your organisation, whether or not they feel that they are welcome and included. You can take steps to hire a diverse workforce, but if people don’t also feel that they are included and that they belong then they are not likely to hang around.”
